Hi:
Since it looks like I am selling my modded SI T Amp, I am planning to buy a new amplifier, what I want is a very good one.
I have seen on the paper Charlize, 41 Hz Amp6, Fenice, Autocostruire, Super Tamp a Chinese I don’t’ remember the name…. and I think there are more.
If in the same range of price you know something better...
I would not mind to change a few components and or make it from a kit (upgrading some elements) but keeping in mind that I am a beginner so I do not dare with Amp 3 of 41Hz or complex things.
I read that SMD is sonically better than through hole.
I read for the volume the best is a transformer not a pot (please advise which one and if it is worthwhile, I also read about PEC carbon pot).
Unless advised against it I would make an integrated amplifier adding a volume control and an input selection (CD1, CD2, Tuner, Phono) Probably I would stuff in the case my Monica2 (CD2) as soon as it is repaired; if advisable, upgrading some components.
Finally I am using a power supply of 3A 13.8 V, I read that this would damage the T Amp but I can report more than 1 year of use with no problems and this for several amplifiers (I imported a few and sold/gave them to friends, relatives 2 of my children with the stated power supply).
I also need some advice about the wire for the internal wiring, I am currently using CAT 5 computer wire, is that OK?
So, please, help me to put together the shopping list for my super amplifier.
Panomaniac:
Please the Obbligato caps for the input signal after pot are the ones with the copper enclosure?
In case you need this info I am currently using a pair of Fostex 206 E and/or Dynaudio 42 as loudspeakers, but I am planning to make a pair of Lowther Medallion II.
Thank you
Cosimo

Why not try Nelson's F2? Not ClassD but heavenly sounding with full range speakers.
