I came across this thread which I started 9 years ago when I searched for a 5" solution for a home recording setup, two bookshelf speakers either side of my computer monitor above my el-piano. Seems that what I settled on was the Monacor SPH130AL. I still have these, but just the front plates needing the rest of the box. Worth finishing off I think - they were pretty good full range. So that's a recommendation for anyone contemplating similar. Still available.

In the meantime my main speakers are Alpair 10M in tall columns which I'm very happy with, but they need bigger boxes. Not exactly bookshelf.
I still have the Audax HD 13 B 25 8R 110mm cutout 5” OD. That's a good fallback option but needs a tweeter and crossover, not impossible.
