Beogram 4002 5501 crackle noise even when unplugged

Hi all

A rather strange problem. I have a nice little beogram 4002 which makes random crackle noise (like every half second or so) on the phono amp even when it is unplugged. I am pretty confident it is not the pre amp and also the ground connection is fine and effective.

Could it be some loose connection or dirty Mute relay? Any thoughts?

Thanks
Arta

Correction: by unplugged I mean beogram unplugged from the mains. The noise exisits also when plugged and playing.

Any thought from Beogramers?

This issue is driving me crazy, how can it make noise on the preamp even when beogram is disconnected from the mains? loose wires can add to the noise yes, but crackling noise, really? happy to record the noise if needed.

Help me, otherwise I will chuck this nice not-really-little beogram out to the garbage been (doesn't fit really?!) and that loss will be be a permanent shame on any expert reading this and not replying 😀

Thanks in advance!
Arta

Doubtful the noise is in the turntable if it happens when the turntable is unplugged from the AC line.

Do you hear that same noise even when the turntable audio cables are unplugged from the preamp/receiver?

Well not entirety. The 5500 Beogram goes through it's own 5500 beomaster amp then RCA preamp out. For 4002 I use a DIN to RCA adapter. You directed me to some good points. I will play around with the connectors. I am sure the grounding is alright though. Not too sure about ESD as the whole system is untouched as it makes the crackling noise. Cheers

Before you open attachment: apologies for noisy content, please adjust your speaker level.

Good point. I came back home tonight and tried some more things. Initially I tested the Beogram on a woolen Persian rug and I was hoping that being the root cause. But tonight I put it on a table. Still same issue remains with Wiim ultra as preamp. I recorded the crackling noise and you can also hear some radio signal there! When I switch to a cheapo valve preamp the magnitude of the cackling noise is really low, almost negligible. Could the issue be that Wiim is only compatible with MM and MC while I am using MMC cartridge? Like these may be some LC circuit formed by the pickup and wires and internal impedance of Wiim which demotivated radio signal. Probably AM channels?
