Behringer SRC2496 into DCX2496

Some jitter related stuff is being discussed in the already too long thread on the DCX2496, so I thought it was a good idea to start a new thread.

I am really out of my depth on the topic, so please be gentle ...🙁

What are the advantages of running a SRC2496 ahead of the DCX other than format conversion?

The DCX already upsamples. So assuming I do not care about format conversion, reclocking is what is left (and what I am interested in).

What does the SRC exactly do on the output side (on the input side I can use a wordclock connection which I understand is good)? Does it run the DCX as slave? If so, is that a good or a bad thing as opposed to installing a Tent clock in the DCX instead?

Or is it possible/desirable to get a USB/I2S converter (e.g. PCM2706) install it into the DCX and feed I2S to the CS8420?

Some or all of the above may not make sense.

TIA
Giulio
