I've never thought of modding an amp before and I've tried for a few days to search for beginner amp mods, to no avail. I don't want to post a series of annoying common place questions, so I thought I'd just ask for some reference guides to start me off. I have a few cheap ebay TDA7498s and TPA3116s coming in (hopefully non-DOA), I ordered multiples because I seriously question the build quality and I'd like to improve the amp life/durability and sound quality.
Any direction would be appreciated, I know I have a greater chance of destroying the amp than improving it, but I figured I'd give it a try.
For reference:
The TPA3116
and
The TDA7498

I have modified the red board to a point that it sounds pretty good. I have started using it over my ADCOM GFA to save electricity. That thing is a heater when left on 24/7.
Here are the components I used for 8R speakers.
4 Panasonic 25SEPF330M
8 TDK FK20X7R2E224K
4 Bourns 2100HT-220-V-RC
4 Wima MKS4D036802E00KSSD
4 K331J15C0GF5TH5 + 4 ERG-1SJ100 for bootstrap snubber.
2 100kOhm 0603 Resistors + 2 20kOhm 0603 Resistors to change gain.
However, you should use SMT inductors like the Coilcraft MSS1260T Series instead of the through hole ones I used. They look very silly and performance suffers. Also, remove the 50k potentiometer or change it to 10k or lower logarithmic pot.

This is the best picture I have of it without taking the amplifier back out. One side of the capacitor will connect to input pad of the inductors. Resistor will be connected to the capacitor. Other side of the resistor will be connected to the ground plane on the bottom in which you expose by scraping the mask off. Make the leads as short as possible, shorter than what I have.
