Bearing for turntable

Air bearing motors were used in old quadruplex VTRs in America back in the 70s. (such as RCA TR60, TR70, Ampex VR1200, VR2000). Also there were a few helican scan VTRs that used compressed air (IVC9000). The problem with air bearing motors is they require a source of compressed air. The motors wouldn't spin up unless compressed air was present. TV stations that used these machines had elaborate air systems that produced compressed air all day long. No modern VTRs (or VCRs) use compressed air any more.
