I'm going camping for a few days and then straight up to Woodford for almost a week. My girlfriend and I will be away from powerpoints for almost the entire time but need our phones to work during (though for camping we will be out of range most of the time).
I've been looking online the past couple hours and after noticing a few products like the Sunwith portable power bank (not easily available in Aus) I'm interested in getting something along those lines that isn't super expensive.
I've already got a portable case charger that gives about one charge from empty, but that's not enough.
Failing the power pack I would settle for a solar charger.
Any recommendations?

Turn off the phones when not in range of service and when not needed - you should be able to extend the life of the batteries sufficiently to do the job. Take the portable charger for a partial top up of both phones. No need for modern world diversions - you are camping after all..
Thanks for keen ideas, yet only 2W delivered is not suitable to work for smartphones, and solar power seems to be not a bad replacement.Get to try.I've adapted a crank flashlight for charging but it really doesn't work for smartphones...need too much power...it only delivered about 2W.
If there is a lot of sun you can use solar power but use a dc-dc converter to get more power down to 5V.
Good luck
