An advertisement comes on to your TV.
Some sales person asks you to look at his 4k or 8k super duper new TV.
See how clear and defined the picture is? Come down to our store and purchase one of these, he says.
I say, yes, the advertised TV looks wonderful on my 1080 TV.
Why should I purchase his product, when my TV shows how good his 4k or 8k TV looks in the advertisement (on my 1080 TV).
