I'm probably not being 100% clear because I'm typing in my phone.
I plug in a phone or iPod, sounds good. Played for about 15 mins. I moved the amp around a little, could be coincidental, but that coincided with the audio source being fried. Did this 3 times. So I'm thinking either internal short or amp overvoltage. The phones and iPod are not coming back to life. They are still dead. I plugged them into another speaker and the output is blown

That sucks man. Measure if there's any potential on the signal input. Maybe there is a loose connection which causes to set the battery power on the signal input?
I'm still camping so my resources are limited and I can't measure the potential. But I think it has something to do with a bad ground in the amp. I have a cigarette lighter adapter wired to one of the batteries. If I charge the phone while playing audio, the sound cleared up, even though the audio is still broken when connected to other devices. Must have smoked the ground in the phones headphone jack somehow.
well that was a costly mistake. My amp ground and device charging ground were at different potentials, 12v off. I didn't know that the phone shares its ground between the charger and headphone jack. The amp shares its audio ground worth it's power ground. Problem solved but I now have two dead phones and two dead ipods.
For anyone that is interested, I created a new thread that was more specific to the issues that I had. After I fixed the above issue, I ran into more. Hopefully others can learn from my mistakes.
