Hi all, since Class D amps have significant sensitivity to power supply quality has anyone tried using batteries (like 12V rechargable lead acid batteries?)
I believe that they are no more sensible that any other kind of amplifier. Given the low power circuitry has it supply rails regulated, power will vary accordingly to the voltage available at power stage. I has designed one for use with the PC itself SMPS, and during tests it work pretty fine and actually sounds better than my antique STK chip amp.
That is incorrect.
Class D inherently have very high PSRR (power supply rejection ratio) so power source quality have much lower significance than for other amp classes.
I think most people here have one or more battery operated class D amps. You probably do as well in your mobile phone.
