You'll get a lot more noise with the horn, though.
yeah, I have noticed that
but theres no turning back now
fortunatly only give problems in a few certain 'settings'
the added air and 'string sounds' it gives results in a very pleasing sound
funny tho that it only happens when I set the Palmer pre at 'straight' 😕
but man, this thing really rocks at hard overdrive
and the really good thing is, I dont get hearing problems
it was close to stopping me at some point, with different gear
with this I can play forever without any kind of probelms
Im exstremely happy about that
to quit would really give me a depression
but seems I have no problems now
a bit strange really
I hope the Aikido will be a nice bonus
and hopefully also low noise

Mine works great for bass instruments, including my ancient Travis Bean fretless. I went with 6SN7s and it is very, very quiet.
Very nice work you're doing there, albeit very different from my preferred configurations.😉
It is very nice craftmanship indeed. But is this the final shape of the midrange ? Will you add something that it will flare vertically as well ?

yes
and because of the curved front, it needs the same special care
my arms are getting tired 😱
pics of the midrange round to angular conversion throat
seems I was lucky once again 😀

Anything worth doing is worth overdoing!
Here's my much simpler, less elegant stab at a 3-way system with horn loaded compression driver and mids:
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Brief overview:
2 X BMS15N630, 3.4cu ft/cab
1 X 18Sound 6ND410, on JBL waveguide
1 X BMS 4540ND, on Pyle waveguide
Bi/triamping via Rane RPM26z speaker management system or MiniDSP 2 X 4 balanced if using both woofers
Passive 3-way crossover built into top box for use with one 15
SpeakerPower SP1-1000 (Ice Power ASP1000 w/onboard DSP) amp
Variety of DIY preamps; latest is 1-6SL7, 2 X 6SN7, Aikido output section
I mostly play electric upright bass, but this all works OK with my fretless bass guitars as well.
cool
do you like the mini-dsp with bass guitar ?
It's quite good but perhaps the signal/noise could be just a little better in some situations, although in a live mix that would be moot I guess. I am really picky about that though! I think the newer model (Open DRC) might well be an even better choice if you can afford it and if the expected analog I/O version comes to pass.
I bought my MiniDSP just before they came out with their cased version. Here's mine, not including the separate power supply:
Will the horns be finished in the same way as the LF cabinet?
I guess so
looks quite a bit smaller in black, and more 'discrete' 😉
besides, I will probably have to use filler
