bass preamp and power amp

Ok sorry if this is a repeat thread. I am new to the diy audio scene and am not sure how often people look at old posts. ok on to business

I have looked through quite a few threads dealing with bass guitar preamp and power amps. A lot of people like the preamp from

For bass does anyone know if a 6 band EQ would give me any noticeable increase in control of sound? I have a 6 band EQ ckt here and I am sure i could make a it into a preamp with some opamps or transistors http://users.otenet.gr/~athsam/EQ_2.htm

for the power amp I dont think it will matter to me. I was wanting to make a 4x10" cabinet so I am not sure of the avg wattage used in these cabinets. If anyone has any suggestions on power amps?

preamp question

ok if I build my own preamp with the 6 band EQ that i have in the previous post. I think i would need to amplify the incoming signal from the guitar, run it through the EQ then have some sort of Volume control/amplification to send to the power amp. Anyone have any suggestions on the preamp configuration other than what i have just suggested? I may just put together a quick schematic of what I have suggested then have you geniuses show me what i am doing wrong 🙂
