anyone got any idea of how to mount a full size metal basketball hoop to the wall in my appartment ... with make a huge mess or useing 37 screws.... it is kinda heavy .. and i only got 4 mounting holes ... any ideas ?
whats a molly bolt? 😀 the thing is i dont mind making the 4 holes in the sheet rock .. cuz thats easy to fill... but im just not sure if the sheetrock will hold it with out ripping a chunk out .... wich would be hard to fill

Don't go all Shaq and the mollys will probably hold it.

yea i wony go dunking on the thing .. i just want to sit on the couch and drink beer and shoot at the hoop.. and all the lil plastic ones i find are just junk.. thanks for the link it helps alot ill take pictures when im dun 😉
Mount it to a plywood backboard and mount the board to the wall. If you don't, the drywall will compress and the hoop will sag. It also easier to catch the studs which are 24" on center or 16" on center if it is a bearing wall. No point in trying to mount it to the drywall itself, it won't last.
Well, I was going to suggest two lag bolts into a stud and two molly bolts into the surrounding drywall. Cal's idea does sound better, though. You could even make it the size/shape of a backboard and paint the rectangle on it. Just think of the giant balls of scrap paper you could toss through a full size hoop.
