Bandpass Home Sub

Hmmm...I'll have to take a look at the room it's gonna go in, I'm sure stereo subs would fit just fine. Since it's gonna cost the same either way, might as well just make two separate boxes...if nothing else I can just put them in the same corner. That and I could always use one for something else someday, without having to dismantle it. I'm definitely leaning towards the AV15, for looks and for xmax, since I'm doing sealed subs. I'd love to hear the Atlas and AV side by side, but I guess I'll just break out the credit card and have fun...

Anyways, gonna go ahead and by one AV15 and put it in a sealed box. If I don't like it, I'll just sell it to somebody and try the Atlas 🙂 What's a good modeling software for subs? Probably can get by without it since this'll be simple, but someday I may need it.

I use WinISD pro beta to model subs. It has the most features of any free software I've seen. It allows you to simulate with filters, including a Linkwitz transform, and see the impact on max SPL, cone excursion, required amplifier power, group delay and vent velocity (if applicable). Using it you will see how the GD of a sealed sub will match that of a vented sub of the same response.

I have used Subwoofer Simulator, which I previously preferred, however it doesn't do a LT or eq.

I've also used a number of Excel based spreadsheets, again, not quite as powerful.

If anyone knows of anything that is better than WinISD pro, please let me know!

Just started playing with WinISD, nicely designed software, very easy to use. I've only done preliminary modeling right now, still getting used to all the features and whatnot. Modeled a couple different boxes with the AV15, and on request from a friend, the Avalanche 18...apparently I may have some help funding this project since I'll be living with these guys for a year or two.
