Balanced volume control question

I'm about to go balanced and lack any previous form - I know how to implement a balanced volume control by a) two standard volume controls and b) one pot between the two legs.
But what if I use a PP output transformer out of my preamp, like the Lundahl LL1680 or LL1689? Two tubes in PP, and HT to the centre tap of the primary in the usual fashion. what then do I do with the secondary? Do I a) leave it floating and establish the earth point with resistors or b) use a centre tap on the secondary, and if so where do I connect it to? The volume control could be either in the preamp after the PP transformer or in the input of the amp. All help and diagrams appreciated, plus bonus points for any online tutorials I can look at to find examples of how all these balanced options are implemented! Andy
