I am trying my way around the various apps that are around but one thing that really is a problem is the in-room response.
To be more precise, I can model a driver and it's enclosure and the graph will show it's anechoic response. Great !
However, is there a way to actually simulate the in-room response? After all, that's what we're interested in - or not?
Basically I am planning on building two subs, one left, one right or possibly four subs for each corner of the room. My main speakers are Meridian DSP5000 speakers which have their F3 point )as per the specs) at 35Hz. I am awaiting delivery of my Audiocontrol MP-200 Preamp and Mic so I can measure it''s in room response.
I plan on using the subs for 25Hz to around 45Hz to bridge the gap and to relieve the main speakers a bit.
The quality of the drivers and sub must absolutely be first class. I am a bit concerned that drivers like the Adire Tumult / Tempest will fit the Home Cinema bill but don''t cut the mustard for serious music listening. Somehow I am drawn to the better Eton, Focal, Scanspeak and Audio Technology drivers.
Just mention the Grand Utopia's bass handling or the Avalon top models.....
Huge SPL is not what I am concerned about, but deep bass with plenty of accuracy and attack.
Can anybody here help me with a few pointers...?
Also, there are different theories on which alignment is best. Obviously some alignments suit different tastes. Sealed seems the way forward but a Linkwitz Transform circuit is essential then. This adds extra complexity (can be overcome) but also adds extra components in the signal path.... Can a Bass Reflex system be a match as well, or EBS for that matter? And lastly, can RDO (Resistive Damped Operation) be used for an Audiophile sub?
Let's narrow down the possible issues a bit, 70 Liters is my absolute max Vb for a cabinet.
