Hi: Congratulations! You have a beautiful machine!Hello Mike!
I do not want to make 337ESD as a NOS player, just would like to have a better clock generator for it. Can you suggest me what kind of clock should I get?
I don't find any clock at 16MHz, like the original crystal.
Try a Tentlabs clock and power supply upgrade:
http://www.tentlabs.com/Components/cdupgrade/xo2xo3/index.html
And go for the other mods described here: capacitors, I/V resistors and in the signal pass, diodes, power regulators. For op-amps BB2134 is my suggestion.
I have the schematics. If you need it please ask for.
And enjoy the robust, punchy, dynamic and detailed sound of your CDP!
Tentlabs has it but other shops lack of it.The clock frequency is 16.9344MHz. They are very easy to find.
Could you please check this thread, opened by me also, maybe you met this kind of issue with this CD player.

Tentlabs XO2.2 arrived today.
Can you help me how to wire it exactly? Should I remove all resistors and capacitors around the original crystal from the CD player or only the caps?
Do I have to connect the tentlab GND to the CD player GND somewhere?

Get a separate transformer and voltage regulator for that clock oscillator. Also, use a proper coax cable to feed the clock signal to PCB. These will make a huge difference.
I have seperated transformer and regulator. I do not think that coax is necessary for 2cm distance. I used very pure copper wire with teflon coat for that.
