Bad AD1865 Chips?

I am building the DACEnd and got an AD1865N-K from the group buy. I installed it and got only one channel. I checked everything and decided to get couple more from EBay, one from HongKong and another from the US. I got no sound on both of them. Is there a lot of fake/bad AD1865's floating around?

Maybe your DAC has bad contacts or a bad chip socket.

There are lots of counterfeit chips floating about these days and eBay vendors from the far East would not be my first choice. However, you've had the same results with 3 different units -- time to consider something else as source of the problem.

yep, seems unlikely to me that the problem here is with the dac chips, there may well be a problem with their authenticity, but it seems unlikely that is the problem here. I would look to the rest of your assembly as others have noted

Try remove 74HC04 and tie AD1865 pin11 to 14. Of if you use socket for 74HC04, simply remove it and place jumper pin1 to pin2. You may hear from both channel.

I got another AD1865 and I still only got one channel, I traced it to a bad inductor. Now I have both channels and it sounds great, thank all for the help.

The two AD1865's I got from Ebay were bad.
