Back-up superseeds time-out..:(

Odd behaviour...I make a post and then, within moments, wish to edit it.... Normally all good...but

Then your site goes down for 'Maintenance" and when it comes up again the time limit on editing has passed.... no fault here, simply that your "maintenance" does not queue edits...???

Rather counter-intuitive and unable to be allowed for when posting... Just a big guessing game or 'When will the Earthquake strike ?" scenario 🙁

...'When will the Earthquake strike ?" ...

The break is very reliably 1 AM here, and lasts 2 or 3 minutes. At 12:58 AM I get up and do something else for a few minutes.

It won't be 1AM at your place elsewhere on the globe, and Daylight-Spending Time offsets are not rationalized, but it is not a complete mystery.

Thanks Allen... no need to edit...it is what it is...
Just commenting on the infrastructure but will be most pleased when it has been upgraded 😀 (4 years + now and waiting ?)

4+ would be an underestimation 🙂

That said, the new platform is already several months into development, site existing site and content has been test-migrated and happily running on XF, and functionality mostly working. The best description of its state would be "pre-alpha". The full public launch is currently estimated to be around 90 days away. We will start sending emails about all this very shortly to let people know what's coming in the future. The 20 year old "stop-the-site-while-backing-up" system will be "fixed" when we migrate to our new software/hardware stack.

Excellent news ! Thanks for the update Jason.

Despite the downtime for backups I really love the retro-pictures shown while it happens.....

Maybe there could be a link in the new format to those images just for nostalgia's sake ?? I would click them !

Me too! I always try to catch one (here, it’s happening at 0700 am).

While I’m curious to see the new version, I still quite like the status quo, slightly retro, with its user-friendlyness being deployed by the users and not a system [emoji3059] (hiccups included)

Here's another, not prime quality. Random snag from an unwanted detour in Twitter; but the name of the school seems to be unambiguous.

I once managed a lab with just about _those_ Macs. Not those students though.
