Greetings everyone! I'm about to inherit a set of pristine-condition Boston Acoustics Lynnfield 500L speakers, and I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts / opinions / etc. on how to wire all this up. (Maybe even start an argument or two! Yay!!)
The Lynnfield 500Ls are capable of bi- or even tri-wiring. I do have a Nakamichi PA-7 in primary service, but I also have a Yamaha RX-V1300 receiver, currently acting as just my pre-amp. That means I could do a bi-amp setup here with the 500Ls, using both the PA-7 and RX-V1300's built-in amp...
So, is anyone in favor of putting the Yamaha's amplifier back in service here, to run the tweeters or tweeters and mid-range of the 500Ls? What if I use the Nakamichi to just run the 500Ls' woofer sections, and the Yamaha for the mids and tweets? Does anyone prefer this setup to just using the PA-7 to run all the 500Ls' components?
And yes, before you mention it, Daddy-o and I have, and will continue, to hash out this topic extensively -- usually over a bottle of wine or two. But he's never had any experience with the Yamaha receiver, or with bi-amping his speakers, etc. etc., so I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks too. (Especially before I go ******* off my wife by pulling up the carpet again to run more speaker wire...)
Thoughts? Opinions? Bring it!
