I've been looking at the power supply end of this amp and I'm wondering what everyone uses for relays? I've been googling and searching here and I have come up empty handed.
Looks like one DPST-NO would do the trick, using one side for - and the other +.

Currently I have that relay in another amp (PS Audio 200c), which uses no soft starting or in-rush limiting of any kind, so as you can imagine, I get a nice blue flash at the relay contacts when the amp is turned on, after being off for awhile (recommended-leave on 24/7).
Reading about the BA-1 has got me thinking about a couple things, in both my current amp, and hopefully a possible future BA-1, or a Son of Zen.
On the current amp, could I use the same layout with the above relay, the BA-1 layout of the 2 filter caps and 2(3) CL60 thermistors? or would I have to alter the values for the power supply.... I can tell you that the transformer is 2.5kva, that outputs 57volts prior to rectification, in where the amplifier channels are fed by 75v with 2 x large 10000mfd 100v power caps per channel. Amp is Direct Coupled 200w x2@8ohms--->1000w x2@1.5ohms.
So what I was also thinking was down the road, since this amp has a irreplaceable main board, that's potentially on it's way out, could I use the power supply/chassis to make something like a "Franken-Zen" amplifier? Seems like the son-of-zen is alot simpler then the BA-1.
I do have a basic diagram of how the relay is connected in the current amp, if I change it around and wire in 2 caps, I'll have to grab AC to feed the relay from another point. It laid out as simple as it looks. I really think that the in-rush protection would be a good idea, while the amp still works.
