B1 question

Over on tube cad I noticed an unusual wiring option for a diamond buffer that converts it to a 6db amplifier. Yes the exception to the rule a buffer with gain ! Any reason this couldn't be applied to the B1 . As you see it would require a split power supply.

my experience with diamond buffer, when speaking of line level signals is that it can't compete with decent JFet buffer, taking in account both sound and simplicity of construction ............. to make DB comparable sound-wise, to have proper (high) Rin, stable DC offset, it becomes complicated very fast

you wanna drive heaaaaavy load - OK, DB is your game ..........
 
To me, that is 2 stages. I have a layout of the first 2 stages of Lazy Cat's VSSA and it is a very good for swinging over 60v p-p and it has gain and it can drive a difficult load. You can get the same from a cascoded BA3 preamp configuration. I am working on a BA3 preamp box to drive my JFET Beast PCB.
 
I was not talking about using that diamond buffer just look at the unconventional grounding method where the power suply ground now becomes the output node and the traditional output is grounded. Could that be applied to the B1 ?

The split is optional. Must be *floating*, one per channel. Gain is not "2" or "6dB" until the NFB is connected; raw gain is "infinity". "Buffer" and "Gain" do not conflict; just that there are many situations which need one OR the other, so we get two grooves in our thinking. And yes this topology is common in large power amps.
