Changed to old ones. Hum has gone.
Can be the problem in placing them outboard ? Let's say wires pick up hum (they are short though , 4 cm long) from other components ?

Probably just bad caps.
Outboard can be an issue, but in this case it's likely not a big problem.

I used Obliago 10uF PIOs reliable and nice sounding for the output caps and 1.0uF MKPs on the inputs.

Made a new and more compact PCB layout for the B1 (which I already have a couple of versions of).

No, nothing at all. However, if anyone else wants to do a GB of some sort I'd happily share the files.

A wonderful idea!
Don't forget to ask Nelson for permission... (although it will likely be no problem)

PIO caps
Hi,
I finished mine today.
100k stpped attenuator and a cople of HUGE PIO caps.
There wasn't room for a PSU, do I use battery instead.
Nice and open sound, but a bit light on bass, do you think bypass caps could help?
Ciao!

Haha, I remember seeing a picture of a Hiraga amp with a 4U rack for the PSU (had more than 1F supply capacitance) and then the amp boards on two medium-sized heat sinks on the back - this is pretty much the opposite 😀

Wow, those caps are huge.
That happens to me when my batteries get low as well...try and charge or replace your batteries.

You're right!!
hey, you can get nice battery 'box' like the ones used for guitars
Yes, i know, but I spent all my money on caps... 😀
Seriously, I thought it's ok because they're hidden behind the preamp..
