Hi all,

Noob and first post here...
I have been searching high and low online to see if I could get some info, and this seemed the best place for it.
I have had a B&W P4 speakers since 96, and do to varios reasonsthey have not been used in the last few years.

I just fired them up again , but 1 tweeter seems to be gone...

I understand zero about htis stuff so please bear with me... Do you guys think there might be some problem with the connections\wiring, or probably have to get a new tweeter..?

Thank you and sorry for my English...🙂

The service manual is here:
http://bwgroupsupport.com/manuals/bw-service

It's a 1.75mH bass coil, with third order tweeter filter, 1.5R and 7uF series, 0.15mH shunt and 10uF series.

You might try connecting a 1.5V battery to the bare tweeter to see if it crackles and shows life. If it does, you are looking for a circuit break somewhere else.

See if you can find a metal dome tweeter that physically fits and is similar, and adjust the 1.5R resistance to suit. It's not rocket science. 🙂

A very common problem with B&W tweeters is the ferrofluid .After several years this fluid becomes a sort of syruppy and the voice coil can't move anymore.
