I'm taking my first journey into single driver full range sound using a Wavecor FR090WA02 3-1/2" Aluminum Cone Full-Range 8 Ohm driver and I had the thought of putting it in a Nautilus like TL tube. I guess technically my system will be full range and sub as I will be using a subwoofer below 150hz or so but I am really wanting to use the Wavecor FR as I have them on hand and they sound very good in a traditional closed box. I'm using a MiniDSP 2X4 for crossover and EQ purposes with circa 45 watts to the FR.
Has anyone tried to copy the B&W tube and if so how did it go? Also, can I use a standard TL calculator to design the TL tubes or is this type of enclosure actually a compression line of some kind?

The HousePod and Nautilus is designs, that were done by a naive twenty-year-old in the early nineties "organic"/Art Deco fad, and as such has little to do with good speaker design.
They are childishly charming and appealing, but they are ridiculously hard to manufacture and especially DIY.
What little advantage the blobby, blown up balloon animal/flour sack shapes has, is easily done in a more tight, elegant way, including aesthetically by other means.
A standard folded transmission line with compensation for edge diffraction can be every bit the speaker the Nautilus is, quite possibly better.
For starters the transmission line is not very long on the Nautilus and therefore needs a strong driver and powerful amp. Something that is quite counter to the whole idea of a closed transmission line of near total absorption, and the little reflex there is, contributing to the output due to quarter wave action.
The bottom spiral is much more of a closed pressure speaker, than a closed TL.

In the soft coupling thread, ab suggested B&W Group North America Service & Support - Reference Materials and the 800D white paper. They talk about these tubes and how they redesigned it to have a shorter length. Maybe helpful read to find out "how it works".
Yes, in that paper it says that B&W actually do utilise a cavity before the horn and says that this combination is much better than just a tube. Something to ponder...

Yes! I am planning to do a tetraeder (aka "dagger" here) instead of my reversed horn but now I'm contemplating to actually terminate a tetraeder with the horn. I think I will try both options 🙂

Thanks for all the replies. I've decided to mount the driver in a truncated pyramid as shown in the file I've attached. Actually the pyramid will use large round overs as these are easy to do with the composites I am going to use to build the enclosure.
Not sure yet if it will be B/R or sealed. I've read that sealed is better for a system with a sub woofer...any opinions?
