I have a pair of c1985 B&W DM100 bookshelf speakers. They have a really great sound with my tube amp, but in the true DIY spirit, I was wondering what tweaks could be done on them, with regards to XOvers and box tweaks. I was thinking about swapping some caps around and possibly some noise damping inside the boxes.
Has anyone get any suggestions for good mods? Has anyone got any B&W general mods?
Thx

Check with http://www.northcreekmusic.com/. They used to sell mods for B&W. They also carry good caps and coils which you should be changing.
Hi Shifty,
Did you ever find out any information about updating your DM100's? I've just acquired a pair and would be very interested in any information that you discovered.
Thanks,
Mark.

Hi,
Crossover component quality in older B&W's is good (generally
all film capacitors) and its not usually effective to update them.

It seems some cost cutting must have been involved.
Note the 7uF, 8uF and 10uF can be made up with parrallel values.
IMO adding a subwoofer would no doubt help a lot.
🙂/sreten.
