Just A Guy,
A properly matched small chamber will extend the horn cutoff by 1.2 times the normal low frequency cutoff frequency. The equation is A=2.9x A/R if I remember correctly. It was originally developed by Paul Klipsch. He got math right many times and then messed everything up with his manufacturing methods. Folded horns can be real tricky and when you start doing conic sections and folds things get even worse. My bass horns are straight, but the throat section is a molded fiberglass section that smoothly combined two 18" cones and transitions to a wooden horn section that is curved and exponential or hyperbolic. I have made curved snail type horns and that works much better than folding in my eye.

This is true, and it's why I use 3 different simulation programs when I'm designing (or reverse engineering) horns.
With the incredible software available these days (and it should be noted that Akabak has been available for at least 20 years now) there's no excuse for folded horn measurements that don't match original unfolded design simulations. They only thing you can't simulate is reflective boundaries inside the horn and the nulls they can potentially produce, but the effect is known beforehand anyway, so it can be predicted. Path length around bends must be adjusted as well, but that's also well documented, especially in the last couple of years.

I don't "require" anything. I have speakers built into my tv and I have a small radio with it's own speakers. Anything beyond that is is pure desire, not requirement.
Many folks here have done "experiments" like this in the past and have found the room to be the limiting factor with high spl LFE.
Buzzing drywall/fixtures or cracked plaster and blown out windows are not normally a design goal

If you are throwing a rave outdoors for hundreds of people that type of rig makes sense but what you are proposing is the equivalent of shooting gophers with a RPG? Too much rig for the gig!...
CelectronicUSA looks like the cheapest place to get a 18SW100 ($335 shipped), anyone here try them out?
The goal is not to try to break the house with 170 db. The goal is zero percent distortion at any REASONABLE spl level I choose.
Sure, you can get 120 db in room with a single driver in a sealed box, but at what distortion level? And if I want to take it out in the backyard and blast it, that single driver sealed box is going to choke and die.

Guangui, thanks so much for dropping by. You've provided a ton of info here, cleared up some misconceptions and painted a nice picture of the social, economic, environmental and political scene of what I can only assume is a beautiful place to live. And a bunch of useful info about the website in question as well.
Thanks.
No problem! Nice place to live, but all places have their attractions. I like Toronto, Montreal, and Calgary a lot. Look forward to visiting BC sometime.
The website/vendor in question is on B&C's website as a distributor under the name Corcovada Electronics (PR), he accepts PayPal; very safe transaction.
Good luck with your sub project!
Those prices are right in line with what a contractor will pay from a wholesaler. Those are almost verbatim the prices I'd pay from any of the distributers. He is selling to the public at wholesale is all. Not a big deal if he actually delivers.

If it won't fit in the desired form factor and volume, that's a problem with the fold. (BTW, it's 50 liters, not 100, that were originally spec'ed for the rear chambers.) .
The original plan is 50. The B&C design takes 100. Plus a big driver. Make it 150 liters of extra space that's not in the 4x4x2 footprint. No matter how it's folded it takes more liters than are available. It's just gonna take a bigger box or you'll be right back to the bumpy response.
BTW, if you lay them out side by side (a row 16 feet long) it's going to be hard to get a good pattern but if you stack them so the mouth is as close to circular as possible (8 x 8 feet) you will probably find them a lot easier to work with.
240 pound cabs are really difficult to stack on top of one another. The smaller cabs were no big deal. Hence the idea of separating the driver from the flare. Solves that wee little folding problem, too.

You gain 160 liters by using the full 48 x 48 x 24 (instead of 45 x 45 x 22.5). Marginally larger yes, but still inside truck pack dimensions. You can gain another 30 - 50 liters by using 1/2 inch wood instead of 3/4 if you want to do that. There's lots of room.

I've heard this idea a few different times, but no one has yet explained to me how they are going to rigidly couple it all together to make a single, large, strong structure without extensively bolting it together (which is a job that needs to be done in the field), and it still wouldn't be as strong as a single braced and glued unit. To be honest, I think it would be much faster and easier to carry full cabs rather than bolt your throats and flares together every single time you move them.
If you put handles and wheels in the right spot (like a fridge cart) I'm pretty sure a 90 pound girl could move a Lab size box around. Maybe not lift it or get it up stairs, but a wheelchair ramp shouldn't be any problem.

Yep, but freight might be the deal breaker. So, my recommendation is for those interested to check how much freight will be, and order via USPS 1st Class or Priority, as FEDEX and UPS are very expensive options from PR to the USA.
Edit: Apparently shipping is included to the USA. So, for those in the USA, my post doesn't apply.

Where do you see that? I sent them a message inquiring about shipping costs through their "contact" form several days ago and haven't received any reply.

Update on www.celectronicsusa.com...The parent company, Corcovada Electronics, has been in business for 26 yrs. They actually ship from a logistics warehouse in New Jersey, plus they have stock in PR. They can ship any of the brands they sell. Looks like most are car audio, and a couple pro-audio.

graphics.CelectronicUSA doesn't seem to be in any rush to respond to my shipping cost inquiry, so I created a bogus account to see what the shopping cart had to say. (There's no way I'm going to provide my personal info just to get a shipping quote.)
Regardless of whether I chose a US or Canadian address, it says the shipping is $20 for 2 woofers. At these prices I'm tempted to make an order and have it shipped right to my house, provided they will agree to use USPS (not UPS or Fedex).
Unfortunately I'm not really impressed with the customer service so far and the woofers are not actually in stock so there's no way to know how long this could take. Paypal only gives 45 days to begin a dispute, and since the woofers are not in stock I seriously doubt I would receive them within 45 days.

Just A Guy,
If you place an order with Paypal and the order is not delivered within a two week period you could just cancel the order and try somewhere else. Do any of the so called stocking distributors have any in stock. that may be more telling than anything else. Perhaps it is B&C that are slow to respond with stocking these particular models in the USA.

You are SOL then, the US distribution hub ships UPS.
Where is the hub, New Jersey?
UPS is fine if I get to sent to a US address, I just have to take it across the border myself to avoid their extortionate brokerage fees.

I certainly hope they all carry their stock unless noted otherwise. Even the ebay listing says they have them in stock. I'm seriously hoping to just receive my order, I really don't want to play paypal dispute games and/or order cancellations. Even if I get my money back I'm likely to take a hit for exchange rates and/or other associated fees.
Homeland Security may consider those things weapons, audio attack material.......😀
Have you tried to just call those guys instead of the email? Isn't there a phone number at all? 🙄
