Congratulations to Charles on Stereophile's excellent review of what by all appearances looks to be (ahem, and is no doubt sonically) an excellent product!
MX-R mono amplifier
The Ayre MX-R mono amplifier takes a bold new approach to amplifier design. Its unique monocoque architecture joins the chassis and the heat sink into a single elegant structure for unparalleled mechanical integrity. Now all we need is a schematic.
No Just kidding. Having heard the prior Ayre amplifiers i am sure this is a fine piece of equipment.

Yah, nice amp. $16,500 a set and one blew up during the 2-ohm test. It blew two of four fuses, but when the two fuses were replaced, they blew again – dead amp.
There were also the obvious problems associated with zero-feedback amps. Besides weird lumps in the frequency response, but also greatly increasing distortion with decreased load impedance. Analog linear power supply? Couldn’t their sales department/BS-artists do better than that? Leave it to Stereophile – even though the amp blew, they tinkled all over it.
Sure, gorgeous heatsink/chassis, compact design, clean layout, but $16.5K? No thanks.
