i am lookin for some 6.5in speakers or maybe some 6x9 speakers that can take lots of power... i need it to be in the 100-300w rms and max be around like 400-800w... i havent really found alot of speakers that can take this much power... i dont know about size but in my jeep i need 6.5 but am planning to get a new car soon so i dont know. Well to think about it i need 5 1/4 and 6x9s because these are going to go in my new car.. VW GTI 1992. I dont know if it is easy to modify it to 6.5 in the doors but i will try... so if anyone can post some speakers to meet this capability please do so... any of the sizes mentioned above.

thx

Hi,

the only way you'll get drivers that can handle that much power
without excursion limiting is if they have stupidly low efficiency.

So basically you will not be able to find such drivers. You need to
readjust your expectations and concentrate on SPL (excursion)
capability and with driver efficiency the amount of power needed.

6x9s have traditional never been aimed towards high power applications. You will not find any rated for that kind of power handling. There are usally for factory replacements. Oval speakers generally are not very accurate anyway and all lack meaningful X-overs. I would put that power to better use.

Even component systems are usually not rated for that. a/d/s/ and boston acoustics used to have nice three-way systems.

Also, 6x9s are better for rear fill. Why destroy from soundstage?

For these and other reasons, you won't find monster 6x9s.

i dunno lol... i want to pump like 800w rms from an alpine amp that im going to get into 4 speakers... i want it to be loud as well. thats why i am askin..

what model of amp, most 4 channels put out full power into 2ohms on all channels so with a typical 4 speaker 4 ohms setup you only get~half power

i am getting rid of the jeep.. my tranny is messed up and i do not have enought money to fix it........ as for the amp specs i do not know because my cousin said he is going to bring it from north carolina soon. it is a 800w alpine amp.. about 3 months old.. i dont know the model number or anything...

If you want large power go with multiple speakers. For example Dynaudio 7" or 8" 3-ways can handle 200w rms. Three pairs of these would be awesome. look at new cars and you find the better audio systems are multiple speaker just like home surround sound systems. Six speakers @ 50w each will sound better in a car than two @ 150w. Like another user said soundstage is important. When you go to a concert you don't turn your back to the band so you want most of your sound coming from the front or sides.

its a wonderful world when mnf,s put a sticker on the back of a magnet of a 10.00 6 by 9 speaker that says 400 watts and consumers are actually using this info to determine which speakers to buy! even worse they think its possible and look for a 4000 watt amp

pyramid sucks.. so does legacy... pyle and all the other sucky *** brands... the only reason i have a legacy "1000" wanna be amp is because i got it for free.. i would never buy it.. its jsut a waste of ur money.. its better to give those $100 to charity than spend it on cheap brands.. im starting to get pissed off my cars in general.. you spend all of your time in them and they mess up and you have to give another 5000 dollars to fix it every year... as most of you can see im pissed off with all of this...............
