I want to know about a Atmel AVR ICSP programming interface from PC SErial port. Really, I don't like the AVR's High voltage programming mode....because of it's complexity and the destroyer 12V.
CAn I use a AVR ICSP programmer as a standalone AVR programmer? I mean Can i use it with AVR (I use atmega8) without any external circuit?
Like if a just give the IC power of +5V and then connect to programmer to it, Will it work?
Will I need connect any oscillator to the AVR to do this?
Can someone provide me a simple and good scheamtic of AVR ICSP programmer via serial port?

Download the zip file. In that, you will find the Sercon2-Mini schematic that you use as the programmer. It runs of the serial port and has a few diodes and resistors on - as simple as you can get. I've been using it for years without problems.
As to the question about power being on for the AVR being programmed. It depends on which type you doing. For the bigger AVRs you need to have them powered up, but they don't need an XTAL to run. In programming mode, it uses its own internal oscillator - if I can remeber properly.
