Avatar doesn't size correctly

I'm trying to change my avatar but can't get it to fit in the allotted box.
I have tried downsizing it down to 15% but it still shows the same size, it only gets more fuzzy.
What am I missing?

Maybe it needs to have a square aspect ratio, so you'd have to fill up the background yourself first?

I'm out of time for today but perhaps if you post the image you want to use (in its full size) we could have a play around with it.

I went thru a bunch of experiments, IIRC i ended up uploading a 400x400 pixel image.

But looking at the image used by XF it is 384x384 pixels. XF doesn’t do a great job at resampling.

Note that Preamp could have a much cleared avatar if he uploads a larger picture (his is 192x192). Jans as well.

This is the image I'd like to use.

If your avatar is not square the forum-software will crop the longer sides to fit the shorter side. Just fill in white or black or any background above and below (or your old avatar that i liked very much) to get square 1:1 ratio and put the new one in the middle.

Don’t know if the results are sufficintly large for your tastes.

you might want to make it closer to square.
