For those of you who have used the very nice Schroff Multipac series of enclosures, attached is a picture of an inner front panel that I recently designed for mounting components so that just the shafts come through the main front panel. This avoids having the mounting nut, non-turn lug etc visible on the main front panel. (The multipacs do not come with an inner front panel as an add-on accessory, which is a pity.) Pic is for a 2U enclosure.
The panel itself is fabricated from 2mm aluminum, with vertical bends that allow it to be fixed using square nuts that slide into the side extrusion (similar to the way the bottom chassis plate is fixed). (See pic.) An additional pair of bends along the top and bottom make the structure very rigid.
If you are interested in ordering some of these, please message me. You can order blank panels or have cutouts. The cutouts will be laser cut, so there is no restriction on the complexity of the cutouts; even square corners are welcome!

If they fit exactly to your needs I think this is perfect. The problem is that those slots cannot be properly configured. I've struggled with this problem and did a solution myself, for both enclosures (box.mwf-services.com) and front panels (panels.mwf-services.com).
