AV receiver as pre-amplifer?

Want to simplify my setup, using Marantz sr 7007 as the preamp instead of the rotel pre amp for rotel 1080 power amp. For music and ht both.

Wonder if marantz av reciever is good enough to be used as preamp? I know it is a good question, but still want to figure it out.
