Australian woes
Hello fellow projector making patriots.
I am in Australia, so the amount of people with the right tech is a bit low.
I need to know besides e-bay, where I can get really cheap but good quality parts, in Australia.
CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP LCD panel, preferably VGA and 7 – 15”
6”+ triplet projection lenses
CHEAP MH set-up- all the overseas stores sell them for cheap but I can’t fide one for less than $300 AUD in Aus.
And finally good quality Fresnel lenses.
All help is appreciated, thank you.

Can't help you, except that I found some links to CMV 15" monitors (CT-529A) when I searched the by Google.com. So use google.
I have a contact in a lighting store in NSW that sold me a 150w CDMT bulb and Electronic Ballast for cost price of $220, i may be able to get another one. What wattage lamp are you after?
To get some okay optics you could try your local TAFE or Uni and ask if they have old overhead projectors.
Another one i have heard from the guys on the forum is asking photocopying shops for lenes and printing places.

Hi Jen01,
I've made a 15" pj and can help you with your parts questions and their availability in Aus.
I don't believe Dell monitors are of suitable quality for our purposes, and are unknown as regards stripping. Expect to pay at least $350 for a good 15" LCD on eBay.
Get the fresnels and the projection lens from the US, either from lumenlab.com or diyprojectorcompany.com.
But first decide whether you want to do a 7" or a 13 to 15". There are several types of smaller LCD panels available on eBay, but the cheaper ones have fewer colours and lower resolution. The figures given in the ads are misleading.

I manage to struck a deal with a company here in QLD that will supply me with a whole kit including the followings:
* control gear with thermal cutout for 150W MH lamps 100V, 1.8A
* 150W clear lamp
* complete lamp holder
This Unit is ready to use all you have to do is plug it in and that is it.
I am able to get this unit at trade price and I can pass it on to you guys at a maximum discount possible.
You maybe able to get this unit at you local lighting house for about AUD$320 now I'm prepair to let this units go for AUD$180 plus freight, that is the best that I can do at the moment

I managed to source an HQI-TS400W/D lamp for $90, and an HPS control gear box for $70. You won't find cheaper than that.

l just love my forum...
you can get Aprox 10,000 lumen double ended halogen spotlights(a complete setup with relector, almost the right sise for a lilliput) from bunnings for cheap.
but they doo produce a bit of heat. buy 1 and if you don't like it take it back. you can use it straight out of the box.
i think a 500w aprox 7~10,000 lumen is around $40 AUD.

Yeah, but not that lamp!
Halogen emits the wrong colour, and 10,000 lumens is far too low for a 15" LCD.

you can get ones that are 1500W...
i don't lnow how much they are and how much heat it produces. but they have aprox 30 000 lumens..
but they are probably very hot. and not too cheap..
