Does anyone know a good supplier of Aurum Cantus drivers in Beijing, China? I keep reading there are Chinese and export versions of the drivers, first being cheaper but lacking in quality. I am looking for the better versions. Is there any way to find them in Beijing, or do i need to go directly to the factory for them? Also, witch driver in your opinion is better for mid-range in a 3 way speaker setup? I plan to make a clone copy of Grand Supreme speakers, but instead of 10inch bass drivers (AC250/75C2C) i plan to put 12 inch ones (AC300/75C2C), tweeter naturally being the G1 ribbon and I'm still thinking about the mid range, to go with the AC130/50CK like in the original Grand Supreme, or to put AC165/50C2C like in Harmony and many other models. I'm thinking maybe AC165 is better for mid-range? I want to choose the best drivers for that setup. There are comparisons of the two graphs:

Crossover frequencies would be the same as on the original Grand Supreme (110Hz and 2200Hz) so the mid-range would play from 110 to 2200hz. Because it would play from a pretty low freq for a 5inch mid range driver (110hz) i taught about putting a bigger one with the same voice coil but little larger cone. Still it bugs me, if they put in their flagship model the 5 inch mid ranges even with that low crossover freq, maybe they sound the best for that setup? Also, do you have any advices on cabinet building? I know that the Grand Supreme's have 1" MDF Sidewalls and 2" MDF Front Baffle, that the cabinet is Parabola-shaped, and that mid range chamber and woofer chambers are completely separate. My biggest concern is getting the front of the speaker (black plastic?) to look the same. Also, this seems to be only image i managed to find of the Grand Supreme cabinet in the making:

No, those are the originals! I suppose i can get those directly from the factory, but the factory is like 2hrs with train from Beijing (where I'm currently at) so I'm trying to find a good supplier here.

In any case, if somebody knows ANY Aurum Cantus dealer in Beijing (drivers only or whole speakers), by all means tell me, because it would be good to go there and at least hear them. I will be staying here for 6 months so i have plenty of time. Also, what are good locations for high end audio in Beijing besides XIN JIE KOU?

Another one of my grand constructs. A DIY effort to emulate the $15K Aurum Cantus Grand Supreme loudspeaker which I've heard at a friend's place and was impressed with. This speaker project uses 10 drivers from Aurum Cantus's premium speaker range namely, a very large G1 ribbon tweeter (like a Raven R3); two scattered carbon 5" midranges in d'appolito array; and two 10" bass divers in a bass reflex box.
I have had good success actively crossing this speaker with my DBX Driverack crossover unit. The lower bass driver handles the bass frequencies below 100Hz and the upper bass driver does the midbass up to 500Hz. The mids cross to the large ribbon tweeter at about 2.5kHz.
The sound is very impressive, large scale and room filling, loves to be driven hard where it stays composed, and still has enough finesse to keep my ESL trained ears happy.
