To call it a clone is probably misleading. The LS3/5A acted more as a design guide. John's design uses a Focal midbass & a Morel tweeter. Probably gives him a good advantage going in.

I can't remember whether i ever actually owned LS3/5As but certainly did listen to them a lot (sold quite a few pr for sure). They really bloomed when actively XOed to a pr of subs -- that is when i decided that the biggest benefit of a sub was in the mids.

well hte 9900 is more fragile than a MDT33 (morel) and I ahve fried a couple of those (18db XO). dont ask me how. actually I had lent the speakers to my nephew. he fried them.
