Audionics CC-2 with a buzz

I have the "factory" service manual (from Fosgate, 08/1990) for the CC-2 if anyone is still interested. Aside from the schematics, the important procedure for bias and offset adjustment is present in the manual.

If this site keeps a repository for such documentation, I can contribute it to the cause.

I once fixed the permanently triggered clipping indicator also, which involved re-specification of a resistor to higher power rating. I don't have any notations on this fix, but I might be able to re-examine the hardware to figure out what it was.

Bias and Offset instructions

I just saw your question. Here are the instructions for biasing the Audionics CC2 amplifier.

1. Remove amplifier cover by removing the 14 black retaining screws. Avoid
heatsink compound, as it is quite messy. All adjustments are made on either
sidle of the amplifier, in the area of the output devices.

2. Bias (the adjustment pot towards the front of the amplifier) is set with no signal input, and is measured across the two bias test points (located in the middle of each set of output devices). With the amplifier cold (just turned on), the bias is set for 6-8 mv across the 2 bias test points. Let the unit sit for an hour to allow for warm up bias drift. Then check the bias again. It should be anywhere from 20 to 27 mv. If it is higher than this, reduce the amount of bias so that it falls within this range. Bias adjustments are made through the heatsink module (see above).

3. DC offset adjustments are made through the rear hole ln the heatsink module (the adjustment pot towards the rear of the amplifier). It ls set by observing the DC output of the amplifier at idle (no signal). Set the sensitivity to its highest range, DC coupled, and adjust the offset pot to 0 volts (mv),+ or - 2 mv. A millivolt meter may be used instead of a scope, if available.
