Hi,
Audiolab 8000C preamp volume pot ("Noble 204Y 30KOhmx2") is scratchy at low level.
From this pic: http://www.hificollective.co.uk/images/noblel.gif the Nobel pots look openable. I don't know what kind of pot this is (carbon/plastic/ceramic, etc) or how to tell. Assuming I can get it open, is Deoxit FaderLube appropriate?
Zero->max position is 7->5 o'clock; I rarely use past 10. If cleaning and direct replacement prove impossible (quality 30K pots seem rare), what's the trick to 'shift' the desired output to a less-worn part of the travel? Are there pitfalls?
Any advice appreciated.
Best wishes,
AP
