guys,
i've been rummaging through my things at home when i found this two cartridges: 1 AT91e with stylus and 1 at 312EP. The latter is without a stylus.both have gold plated pins. this could be part of some turntables i purchased a long time ago and which i forgot about already
do you think they are worth replacing the stylus especially the 312ep or i'd be better off buying a new cartridge? i'm using now an entry level AT cart CN.....
larry

The AT91 is a pretty standard entry-level cart. Nothing wrong with it, and good value, but unlikely to be an upgrade from anything.
I'm not familiar with the other one.

😀 agreed, also AT made a plethora of cartridges, over the years, some good, and some not so good........ you should search other analogue sites for more info for example : vinyl asylum, etc....

Bear in mind also that a replacement stylus is likely to cost almost as much as the complete cartridge, so is usually only worth buying if you are already happily using that cart.
thank you for the replies. i'll settle for the at 91e for the moment. i'm using a harman kardon t30C turntable and i think they blend well. much better than the shure m92e i previously use and a little better than my AT CN5625.
I have the AT 80E cartridge. one of the first modifications I made was to pop the top and fill the internals full of candle wax. Tremendous improvement, both by dampening and by adding mass.
Also, glue the stylus to the cartridge with Elmer's glue. It can be broken if need me but works well.
Take this as an opportunity to experiment!
