Hi
I want to modify my Audio Research LS mkII pre amp. I already swapped the Sovtek tube for a Russian 6H23N-EB and fitted a Furutech IEC AC inlet, both about a year ago. It is 9 years old, and was last serviced and updated by the Dutch distributor in 2000 (the first Sovtek replacement and extra shielding).
I like the sound of this amp very much, but I know there is a lack of transparency, dynamics and punch, compared with some other great pre-amps. Still I preferred the LS2, because of its warmth, staging and ease (using it with my Spectral DMA-150 and Kharma Ceramique CE-1).
Can anyone tell me what’s the best way to go? Or point me the way to other experts or sources (the only one I found on the web was Great Northern Sound, but I definitely prefer diy).
Thanks!
Lourens
