I've owned the Dual Domain version since new-a lifetime ago! Given some extra time, I'm wondering about replacing the NE5534A and 32A opamps with the latest low noise & THD versions. Is this crazy? Has anyone done it?
No cooperation from AP--I asked. They wouldn't share what Opamps they currently use. They won't even release their 25+ year old schematics.
Opamp recommendations and any tips would be very welcome!
Thanks in advance,
Ivan

Check this thread, post #108.
Also join the Linkedin group called Classic AP Audio Systems Group LA. About a year back someone posted on there a bunch of info about replacing the 5534's for the input diff amp with 797's. Same as in the thread link I just posted.

Thanks, Jan-clearly I did not get a knowledgeable tech support guy at AP. I quote:
"We do not recommend modifying any of our products. I'm not able to provide you with any schematics or information regarding our designs, circuits, or parts. As you know the System One was discontinued about 25 years ago. We're not able to make any repairs or adjustments and we no longer have parts for them. I recommend you leave the System One as is."

Ivan

That doesn't say anything about his knowledge, that's just the official party line.
There must be a ton of people getting a cheap S1 and mess around with it, making things worse and worse. You really need to know what you are doing. Replace the 5534 with a 797 and you're in trouble!
