Why is it I don't see an area that is dedicated to DIY wav/mp3 audio players?
Folks that have made DIY projects with motherboards or?, DIY LCD displays etc.
Not HTPC's but dedicated audio players.
If not here, perhaps someone can point me to some sites that highlight this?

You may want to take a look at MP3Car.com They started up this forum long before MP3 players were prevalent in car stereos. Lots of good info and software there.
