I am doing the router work now but hasnt received the drivers yet.
Does anyone know the coutout and rebate of the 22 cm Audio Note chassis?
Is it standard Seas 8 inch driver?
Ø 220,6 mm
Cutout ø >186,4 = reccomended ø 190
Rebate 5,5 mm

Interesting 4 ohm 94dB woofers:
This is a 215 x 186.4 mm. An older 21 but the same cutout.
Seas P21RE/P H0942-08 Woofer. H0313 2015 remake
A 22 must be SEAS current prestige and Excel standard IMO:
E0045-08S W22NY001
Wouldn't be the end of the world if turns out to be 215 mm. Doesn't matter with woofers. I'd go for it! 🙂

If you've ordered the 22, it's odds on to be 220.6mm IMO. Perhaps people buying the smaller 21 chassis have old speakers.
I'd keep the cutout as tight as possible at 187mm. Otherwise the mounting screws or bolts won't have much timber to grip.

I did it. Next week a pair of Blue woofers are coming.

Thx system7
I will have biwiring terminals. Not because i think such things are neccesary (neither cables).
But i will have the option to crossover active and have a «outboard»passive crossover box.
Since i will use Bliesma 34 mm beryllium tweeter the passive crossover have to be made from scratch. This tweeter are capable to cross as low as 1300 Hz. My target is probably 1600-2000 Hz.

These drivers with AlNiCo magnets aren't cheap. Add in silver voicecoils and it is not unreasonable.
For instance the SEAS Exotic is £481:
SEAS Exotic X2-08 W8 8 Ohms Woofer
Tony Gee built a speaker called the Plutone along these lines:
Humble Homemade Hifi - Archive
Simple coil on the J8008 Mk II bass and a CL on the tweeter. But highish 3.5kHz crossover you would think.
The theory is that low mechanical loss, or high Qms, makes for great resolution of detail. Usually means non-metallic formers on the voice coil.

This is the version i bought:
Audio Note Woofers | Hifi Collective
SPKR-002/H - 8 Inch woofer, Hemp Cone, copper voice coil, crossover range - Up to 3kHz, 4 ohm. Avaliable as a 21cm diameter 4 hole fixing OR a 22cm 6 hole fixing type. A direct replacement for the AN-E and AN-J woofer. £181.50+vat+p&p
Alnico is very expensive and i think it is to expensive compared to what you get.
I have personal owned / build: Seas Exotic fullrange, Seas FA22 fullrange, Lowther PM6A Alnico, Lowther PM8A Alnico, Audio Nirvana Super8 Alnico, Tone Tubby Red Alnico 12 inch hemp, Fostex FE208ez, Fostex FE203En-S, Tang Band w8-1808.
I think this AN woofer have a OK price. Compared to Seas FA22 it has wide foam surround and hemp membrane.
Hemp is fascinating. It is smooth.

I tested Audio Note hemp, Seas FA22RZC and Seas CA22RNY. The are not that different. Audio Note is overpriced. FA22 a little bit more «snappy». CA22 in total the best as a midwoofer. It has most capasity.
Thanks for your reply. My recent experiemnts with the SEAS FA22RCZ in a transmission line used as a midwoofer is also similar to what you described. As if there is an urgency and things happen very fast. Further experiments are in order for me ... I have always wanted an audionote... but now since you tell me that it sounds pretty much the same as the SEAS FA22RCZ, I will happily continue to experiment with that...

I think FA22 is a better driver. Due to the small voice coil it dosent handle that much power so be a little careful
Yesterday i ordered a new pair of FA22 and will use them in this thinwall cabinets without tweeter

For 10 years ago.
FA22 in MLTL. Bob Brines helped me to simulate.

I made them a little more narrow with a «party peak bass tuning». It works very well with small T-amps.

Oh, that's unexpected... I thought you prefer the sound with a tweeter and as a midwoofer?I think FA22 is a better driver. Due to the small voice coil it dosent handle that much power so be a little careful
