Audio "Input" from WAV files for PC programs?

Does anyone know of a way to substitute a WAV file ( instead of the PC's microphone input ) for audio input to a PC program? Something like an audio input driver that instead of specifying the sound card, it would substitute input from a WAV file.

I have some recorded audio files and I would like to study their spectrum using Visual Analyzer". ( Visual Analyser details )

If u can set the Visual Analyser to connect to mixer output than mic input ur problem would be solved😛
