Audio GND Amplifier Test

Connect both the center conductor and shield to the same signal source (ground the signal source to the primary ground).

Confirm that you have the audio signal on both the center conductor and shield on the board. There will be an output from the op-amp that feeds the next stage int he circuit. There should be no signal on the output of that op-amp.

Do you have a diagram for the circuit your working with?

The same test (driving signal to both the center conductor and shield) should work. On this type of circuit, you will generally have 1000 ohms between the shield (secondary ground) and the primary ground. I've seen values as low as 100 ohms and as high as 1M ohms but those are relatively rare. On some of the older amps, there was no resistor between the primary and secondary grounds (secondary was completely isolated) but I don't know of any amp like that being made nowadays.

On this type of circuit, driving the signal to both center conductor and shield will make the entire secondary have the audio signal.
