Hi
I need help finding a capacitor better than Panasonic FM like Elna Silmic but with the values 2200uf 25v.
I am using it for this eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace
I can find some good 35v ones but I dont think its a good idea to replace them with these values as the seller said I should use the same values.
2200uf@25v is so damn hard to find I have looked everywhere.Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Gareth

Pansonic FM and others
The problem is that the Panasonic FM is a very good cap. 7000hrs @ 105 C, 3.75 A ripple current, 12 m ohms. Panasonic PM : EEU-FM1E222L
Or try a Nichicon UHV1E222MHD. 12 m ohms, 3.79 A ripple current, 6000 hrs @ 105 C.
Both are 2200uf/25V. Panasonic is in stock at Digikey in the USA. Nichicon is not in stock.
Compared to audio grade/type caps, these are "better" if higher ripple current, low ESR and long life is "better". Probably cheaper too.

This is the thread concerning the amp...it also has a circuit diagram I think(There 2 versions of this amp there) I'm not sure if the caps I want to change are for audio or the psu...I read that there was a difference in caps also for this kind of thing..I also read that the current being supplied by the caps is a little high..hence I wanted to stick to the 25v caps also.(I'm really bad at electronics lol)

What's my best move then?
Thanks again for the help

You can find quite some good quality audio caps at hifi collective UK, see the Nichicon FW or FG series (there is a 2200 UF out there). They also have Elna Silmic II, but as you point out no 2200 uF. For some reason, these folks do not stock too many cap values.
Furthermore, Digikey sells the entire Silmic II range, but they have that high shipping costs under a certain purchase value. Let me check on a german and another swiss ebay seller which I use sometimes.

ask there for types/models and suppliers for small quantities:Hi

BTW - in any cases the 63V version has the lower value for ESR, even if the capacitance value is smaller. It is better to use a 1000uF/63V instead a 2200uF/25V or 35V in almost all cases, also in such cases, where the used voltage is only between 10V and 20V.
