I have had an unsuccessful browse for information on the performance of the motor in this fairly old but available again, small, high efficiency midrange driver. Is anyone aware of distortion measurements for this driver or a close family member in the Audax range? Thanks for any pointers.
In order to bump this back onto the first page, can I widen the question to ask if people are aware of similar efficient midrange drivers of the same size as the Audax HM100Z0? Despite the name the size seems to be more in line with what SEAS and Scan-Speak would call a 12 rather than a 10. A 15 is getting a bit too big to fit. To be crossed 4th order at 400Hz and so purely a midrange.
If memory serves, someone had done this and found the distortion to be higher than some of the competitors, but not alarmingly so. I haven't seen an analysis using, e.g., the Geddes metric.
FWIW, my uncontrolled subjective impression was a smooth and highly detailed sound. I've used these in three or four speaker builds and have one in the queue at the moment.

Many thanks for the reply but I don't suppose you can remember where you saw the measurements/post?If memory serves, someone had done this and found the distortion to be higher than some of the competitors, but not alarmingly so.
Recently used this high efficiency mid with a fountek ribbon and a PAudio woofer, worked perfectly for what was required..
I did not purchase the driver. It or a similar small midrange was intended to squeeze below a tweeter + waveguide in a limited height. Currently moving forward with a coaxial midrange + tweeter but intend to revisit the non-coaxial arrangement at a later date. Would still like to see measurements of the current Audax HM100Z0.Andy, What did you ever do with this driver?
Juhazi, thanks for the interesting plot. Do you know if this driver was from the recently manufactured batch? Do you know what efficiency you were getting?I had a proto 3-way with Audax. Still have them but no ideas to carry on...
