I found this site while looking for info. on basic component swapping/upgrading and wondered if you may be able to help me.
I'm a somewhat beginner when it comes to soldering tiny wires to copper tracks, but am thinking if soldering copper fittings to copper pipes goes okay, similar principals may apply
Anyway, the preamp processor in question has a slight balance problem on the main speaker outputs, I use it as a stereo dac/pre. (When I tested the surround speaker outputs they are in perfect balance).
It recieved a wallop while travelling, which as far as I can work out, is the cause of the problem.
When using a digital source the left main needs a boost of 4.5dB, using either the balanced outputs or the RCA's.
Using an analogue source into the analogue bypass RCA's the left main is almost silent compared to the right.
Unfortunatly the circuit diagrams are unobtainable from the, now parent company, however, I have been told the capacitors are the week point within this model.....

It's a Thule PR250-B.
I was just wondering if you would think it would be best to actually take the thing somewhere to get it fixed or for a beginner to attempt swapping components.
I'm quite happy to attempt swapping the blue box relays and the big blue capacitors, as I'm sure getting a pre/pro looked at and fixed is not cheap.

If you dont know the basic likes checking voltages, components etc then i would seriously suggest taking it to a pro.
