I have sent pictures to, and spoken with, ATI. These chassis are made up of several individual pieces and they are offering to replace the damaged pieces for free, however, they are out of stock of the faceplates. They didn't tell me how long it would be until the faceplates become available, only that they are being shipped to ATI from overseas.
By the way, the guy I was dealing with at ATI is watching this thread unfold. He seems to be dedicated to providing good customer service.

Right on. well they have really good product's. 🙂
Faceplates
Hi Cheeba,
Can the faceplates be mounted with the bottom edge switched to the top....are they symetrical?

They are symmetrical other than there being a screw on top of the chassis that holds the faceplate. The hole is through the top of the body and into the faceplate. It shouldn't be too difficult to invert the faceplate and tap a new hole so you can still put a screw there. You wouldn't even have to so this, you could just invert the faceplate and not tap a new hole. Of couse, you'd then have a screw-hole in the body that wouldn't correspond to any screw-holes in the faceplate.
Dunno if that will make enough sense without pictures 🙂

Damage
Hi Cheeba,
Well, I can certainly tap a new screw hole. If you can send me two bodies with no damage, and two face plates with limited damage to one edge only, I will be a happy camper. I don't mind waiting for boby part replacements from ATI.
I have sent you a paypal payment for 2 7ths of the overage cost.

First off, thank you for taking the initiative and reimbursing me for the overages, Robert
Most of the bodies are fine, it's really the faceplates that are the issue.
I'm going to label and describe every chassis, because this is getting confusing; I want to figure out what we're going to do and get things going here.
Of the 5 remaining chassis (excluding mine and the one that's really messed up), they go like this:
A) Perfect condition other than a very minor scuff on the lower side of the faceplate.
B) Perfect condition other than a couple of very small pits on the bottom of the body and a single small dent in one of the top corners of the faceplate (visible from a front-view). The faceplate could be inverted and this would pretty much put this chassis in a condition indiscernible from perfect (without picking it up and examining it).
C) Has a 1cm gouge near the back corner of the top portion of the body. The faceplate has a few gouges on the top, once of which extends onto the body about .5cm. This faceplate would look pretty good if it were inverted (some damage would still be very slightly visible from a front-view).
D) Body is in perfect condition, faceplate has some scuffing along the left edge which is slightly visible from a front-view.
E) The body is in perfect condition other than numerous gouges/pits on the rear of one side; these would only be visible from select angles. The faceplate has numerous gouges/pits on the right side, some of which are visible from a front-view. There is also a very small scratch on the front that is not very visible at all.
My chassis has some scratches/pits on the bottom and numerous gouges on top of the faceplate.
The last chassis has numerous heavy gouges on every facet of the body and numerous very deep gouges on the top of the faceplate. This chassis has many more times damage than all of the other ones combined - I have no idea why this one was subjected to so much damage.
Anyways, can you guys all chime in and let me know what I should do here?
Is everyone okay with me picking out (not cherry-picking) a couple of chassis out for rjkdivin?

I'd also like to give the guys from Parts Connexion some serious props; they are great to deal with and promptly corrected an error that was attributable to only me. They are one of the best retailers (online or brick-and-mortar shop) that I have dealt with in a long time. And, that is something coming from me as I am quite discrimintating.
Cheeba,
This is disappointing news indeed.
Since 2/7 of those are mine I feel the only responsible thing to do is help reimburse you for the unexpected expenses. You should not have to eat the additional costs. I guess my question now is, are there going to be more costs associated with replacement parts from ATI? Looks like at this point I owe an additional 2/7 of $170 or $49USD. If you agree I will send it today.
I have NEVER had good luck shipping heavy items!
One would have hoped that for the exorbitant shipping costs ATI charged that they could/would have properly packaged them. Double boxes at least and or expanding foam.
I don't know about the others here, I however don't need another project. I ordered these manufactured cases BECAUSE I did not want to have to build/repair a case. Oh well, such is life.
I didn't see anyone jump on the metal feet. I would like them if they are not already spoken for.
Cheeba, I feel very sorry for you. You were simply trying to be a nice guy and help us out with a group buy. I appreciate all your work and grief!
Thank You,
Michael Penner

Are they gonig to replace the chassis face plate ? If not then i can sand mine down and re-paint / Figure out something i don't mind. Are you able to ship any chassis out ?
I guess the metal feet can go to the first ask-er, I see no other fair way to decide who gets them.I didn't see anyone jump on the metal feet. I would like them if they are not already spoken for.
I can ship the chassis out whenever you guys want, the only reason I haven't is to ensure that everyone is in agreement about what we want to do. I can ship them to you now, or we can wait for the replacement parts from ATI and ship them then. Doesn't matter to me either way.Are you able to ship any chassis out ?
ATI has assured me that they will supply the replacement parts free of charge, and, since he's interested in resolving this problem for us, I assume they will be packaged with the utmost of care. They've just asked me again which parts I'd like replaced, so we should create a list and forward it to him. Since they're being so good about this, I, personally don't want to complain too much and can live with the scratches on my body. However, I would want a new faceplate. It's up to you guys what you want to replace, as I feel that you have a right to expect an new item you paid for to be in perfect condition.are there going to be more costs associated with replacement parts from ATI?
Yeah, no rush though. To be honest, I feel badly about organizing this and having you guys expect something at a certain price-point, only to turn around and say costs have went up. I feel that I could have avoided this had I thought it through more 🙁 I was under the impression that Canadians didn't have to pay duty on an item not coming from the US; I have had many things (some more expensive than all 7 of these chassis) shipped from overseas and have never paid duty/taxes on them.Looks like at this point I owe an additional 2/7 of $170 or $49USD. If you agree I will send it today.
So, are you guys okay with taking the odd very minor scratch in the body and requesting that the faceplates be replaced? I might like to see the top body of chassis 'C' replaced, though. Of course, that still leaves the problem of the one demolished chassis - is anyone willing to wait to have an entire chassis replaced? That one needs every part replaced.
Noooo, I owe it to you guys. Thank you for all being amicable about this whole ordealI appreciate all your work and grief!

I was once shipped a 200lb item worth $5,000USD, had it professionally crated for $150(!) and used UPS (oops 🙁), it got lost for 4 weeks and then showed up with the crate completely smashed in - the item was destroyed. UPS would not pay out the insurance, they claimed it was improper packaging - a professionally-made wooden crate made of 2"x4" and 1/2" ply! Absolutely scandalous that they would screw someone like that, for something they did, just to keep their insurance premiums at a minimum.I have NEVER had good luck shipping heavy items!

Cheeba, I can wait for the demolished one to be replaced. I'm in no real hurry. As for underside blems/scratches I have no problem there either. Unfortunately I would really like the front, back and top to look nice.
It's hard to say, "Hey, look at what I built! Oh, ignore the case it fell off a cliff!"
It makes more sense to keep things there and only ship to the US once.
That is, if you don't mind holding on to them for the next several weeks waiting for ATI to come through.
I will send your money now.
Thanks again!

Maybe what we can do sis get evrey ones chassis shipped out. WHen tehy recieve them they can report back here, and say yes or no if they need / want a new faceplate. That way they can be shipped. If people want a new face plate we can ask for one.
Damage
Cheeba,
I am not in a hurry either, so I can wait as long as necessary.
Although it sounds like a good idea to ship them out to everyone now for inspection and approval, that would mean a second round of shipping and shipping expense when the replacement parts arrived.....and that assumes ATI doesn't want the damaged parts back.....if they did, there would be even a third round of shipping.
I would also like the bodies of my cases to be perfect on the top and sides.....some minor damage on the bottom would be okay. As for the faceplate, I can live with some minor damage on one edge, but I would like the actual front, top and sides to be damage free.

Okay, jleaman, I'll ship your chassis out then. I'll hold off on everyone else's for now.
I let ATI know that we'd like the faceplates replaced, and maybe the top of the body on one or two units. I've also let them know that the one chassis will need to be replaced entirely. I have provided them with photo-documentation of everything, so I don't think there will be a problem. I asked for an ETA on the faceplates, so will let you know when I find out.

SAWEEET!!.. Im not going to be to picky 🙂 atleast i can use the first faceplate witch is damaged to do rough drilling etc etc. Then when new one comes in i can use it for the final one.. Do you know for sure that we are all going to get new faceplates ?
Well, I don't know for sure I'll be alive tomorrow, but ATI has told me that they will replace the damaged parts as soon as they get the faceplates in stock. I don't like to say anything is for sure, 'casue who knows...
Well, I may be in for the next group buy - maybe a group buy from the US may be cheaper and shipping this time will be more safe???
