That 40 Ohm impedance can be a source of GRIEF if tubed circuitry is used. I have the same issue with my Grado SR225s. I use a Sheldon Stokes SS headphone amp that I think is excellent. Like Dr. Stokes says, it does not sound like SS.

Will the Musical Fidelity X-CAN v3 have problem driving it?
